PostSubject: How Things Work In-Character   How Things Work In-Character EmptyThu Nov 14, 2013 11:39 pm

In-Character Information

Character Roles

~Rogue~
Rogues are pokemon that either left their clan, were banished, or were never in a clan to begin with. They are on their own unless they find someone to travel with. Rogues can join clans if the leader allows them, but they can also simply befriend the clan. Most rogues can move about the territories freely, but some clans may not like other pokemon taking the food from their territory...
(Can move about the territories freely without getting in trouble with a clan unless clan member is hostile to those in their clan's territory.)

~Babies~
Baby pokemon are recently hatched pokemon, they can't do much and aren't taught any defense. They begin at level 5 and once they hit level 10 they are promoted to apprentice and their training begins.
(Cannot leave the camp without supervision, cannot leave the territory period)

~Apprentice~
Once a baby becomes and apprentice, they can choose what field they want to practice under; Knight, Healer or Scout. They must find someone who will mentor them in that field, although some clans assign pokemon to fields and mentors without giving a choice. Once an apprentice reaches level 20 and has been approved by their mentor(With proper training) for being advancing, they will be promoted into the ranks of what they have been training for and their lives as that member of the clan can begin. This is the only option you can use when joining a clan. You must have a mentor, a real character or you can choose to be assigned a non-player character mentor until you find a real character mentor played by another user, in order to begin rping.
(Equal chance of finding an item of any kind but lower chance of finding useful items)
NOTE: DURING BETA TESTING, HIGHER RANKED CHARACTERS CAN BE MADE BUT ONCE THIS ENDS ONLY APPRENTICES CAN BE MADE FOR THE CLANS AND THEY WILL HAVE TO GROW AND BE PROMOTED VIA RP

~Knights~
Knights usually patrol a clan's territory and are tasked with defending  the clan from both attacking rogues and invasions from the other clans. They are trained specifically in battle techniques and usually continue training even after being promoted to this position. There is usually a head Knight that is under direct command of the leader. The Head Knight  temporarily takes on the role of clan Leader if the leader is unable to, e.g due to injury or illness.
(Has a higher chance of finding items that assist in battle, cannot go into enemy territory without permission without getting in trouble)

~Healer~
A healer is a pokemon trained in the use of medicine and are well versed in the herbs that can be used f0r treatment in injuries and illnesses. There are usually a few healers under the command of a head Healer so that the clan is not overwhelmed in times of crisis; during wars or bouts of extreme illness. They are not often taught much in the field of self defense as they are mainly called upon for their healing skills, but they are still taught at the very least the basics, just in case they are attacked.
(Has a higher chance of finding items that heal, cannot go into enemy territory without permission without getting in trouble)

~Scouter~
Scouts go out to forage for food of all kinds. They are taught a fair amount of self defense and are usually organized by a head Scout that keeps track of all of the scouts and makes sure everyone brings back something. Being a Scout is usually a stressful job as they go under appreciated in some clans and are tasked with finding and gaining enough food to feed the mouths of everyone in the clan. They are trained to be a lot stealthier than Knights or Healers and during times of war they are often tasked with 'Scouting' the enemy's territory and bringing back information that could prove useful and raise the clan's chance of winning.
(Has a higher chance of finding hold items, cannot go into enemy territory without permission without getting in trouble)

~Heads~
As you may have noticed, each job, Knight, Healer and Scout, has a "Head". The head is a special position earned through being a veteran for the clan and proving themselves as a good leader and role model. The "Heads" are in charge of their designated areas (second only to the clan's Leader) and if the leader is away, injured or ill, one of the heads -most commonly Head Knight but it is sometimes different depending on the clan's traditions- will take their spot temporarily.
(Heads have a higher chance of finding more rare items of their rightful area, cannot go into enemy territory without permission without getting in trouble)

~Leader~
The clan Leader is in charge of the everyday running of the clan and makes the decisions when it comes to things that effect the clan as a whole. How the clan is run depends entirely on the leader, from a ruthless dictatorship to more of a democracy. The leader is a powerful position and can assign pokemon to do specific things like scout out an enemy territory, attack an enemy territory, and assign punishments to those that disobey, so this position isn't just given away to any member that comes along. All of the admins have to agree on a member who's character is allowed be a clan Leader.
(Have an equal chance of finding anything and finding more rare items, can move freely through territories when on clan business with that clan, any more than two escorts will be considered an attack)

Leveling

Simple: 3 complete pages(each page much include 15 posts in total) equal one level!
As an Apprentice you begin at level 10, but as a baby you begin at level 5.

Active Roleplaying Threads
You may have no more than 5 unfinished threads per character. This is to ensure that people don't go around willy-nilly making threads they will never finish just for the levels gained and the shards earned. If the thread has not been posted in for a month then it can be considered inactive and be requested to be locked and you may remove it from the list of active threads your character has.

Battling, Wars, and Taking Over Territory

~Battling~
Although the site is not turn based, do give your opponents a chance to respond. Moves can be tweaked slightly, like using Ancient Power to create a shield of boulders or a platform, and are affected by the environment. If a water type tried to use Water Gun in a volcanic region, it's likely that they're not going to be as strong and Ice moves will probably melt. As you use your moves more and more, your characters energy should go down, for example a move with few power points (PP) like Fire Blast should only be able to be used every so often while moves like Tackle can be used a lot. Pokemon can fight naturally (Tooth and claw) if they wish, but the attacks wont be as effective.

~Wars~
Depending on a clan's relationship with another clan, wars can break out. Territory can be taken from the losing clan if the Leader from the winning clan so desires. Truces and alliances can be made between the clans if the leaders agree to one. Everyday members of the clan can choose to abide by the rules or break them and risk either improving the clan or being driven out.

Winners of wars will be determined by chance, there will be one thread labeled [ATTACK] where selected members of the opposing clan are to post in. The defending clan chooses the same amount of members and the battle will begin. If the outcome of the battle is not already agreed between the leaders of the clans then the battle's outcome will be chosen by a 2 sided die. The defending clan chooses either one or two and the other gets the remaining. The die will be rolled and the winner is the clan whose number comes up.

If the ATTACK thread is in a clan's territory that is able to be taken over (this includes most territory that is close to the attacking clan's border; clan camps cannot be overtaken),  the board that it took place in will be moved to the winning clan's territory and the losing clan will have to try again later to win that section of territory back.

Move-set and Abilities

When you make a character you may have ONE egg move when you begin. Your history must match your character's ability to possess that egg move as well. For example an Absol can only obtain the egg move Hex from a Vulpix or Ninetales parent, meaning that if you wanted that egg move, one of your parents would have to be a Vulpix or a Ninetales.
You can only have four moves(to begin with) and one ability, though extra move slots can be purchased with Shards HERE.
TMs can be found by finding items, and Move Tutor moves must be learned from an existing character that knows or learned the move you wish to be taught. Moves can be tweaked slightly as mentioned before to serve different purposes, such as using Ancient Power to create a protective shield of rocks and such.

Threads
Each character can have a maximum of five active threads. If someone hasn't posted in the thread in a month, it can be considered inactive and removed from the list. More Thread slots can be purchased at a shop found HERE.

Other Pokemon and Items

Even though a good portion of the pokemon live in the groups that your character will inhabit, there's still a good chunk that slightly less intelligent and live their lives as they normally would be it in packs, alone, or large herds. These pokemon tend to be a bit unpredictable and fight for survival of themselves or their own group. They cannot speak the same language as the clans do, and are generally viewed as equal to the wild animals by all clans. These pokemon can be spawned at anytime the player wishes with the agreement of everybody in the thread.

Items can also be found, these items are remains from when the humans ruled the world, but it has been so long since the humans were around that the pokemon have mixed beliefs on where these items come from. Items are found randomly and are spawned by staff at random. You cannot ask for an item to be spawned. However items that have no effects on your character and are more for plot purposes are allowed to be spawned.

The Territories

Each territory has a different culture on how they perform things. Before you join a territory, be sure to read that territory's information and make sure that's the territory you want to join. The links to information about their culture and history shall be provided below.

Rikai Territory Customs:

The Prey

Prey in this world are real animals. They were once rare due to the dangers of both humans and pokemon, having no special abilities or defense like Pokemon, but now that humans are out of the picture they were able to take over some of the land once more. Although, they are still little match against the wild pokemon that could decide to go for a snack.

Having a big clan comes having many mouths to feed. Almost any pokemon can hunt, but it is usually left to the scouts to take down prey or forage for any edible plants for the Pokemon that eat Vegetation.

Of course, one does not simply catch just anything. There is a dice you must roll, you can roll five of that die per person in the thread at the beginning of each thread. You will have the chance to catch/find either large amount of food, medium amount of food, or small amounts of food.

The die code rolled is:

[dice="Clan Name Season"] Number of Pokemon in hunting thread [roll]

The code's name will depend on the season, if it is Winter, a Winter die will be rolled, Summer will result in you having to roll a Summer die.

When you roll, you will recieve a result on how much "food" you will find and what "size" it is. You have the choice on whether or not it is a animal or a plant fit for harvesting (although Prey requires looking at the list of animals in the area provided by your clan's founder while plants are merely different assorsments of strange berries and fruits that have no effect on your character's health) , so for now we shall refer to the "food" as "Finds", either one will not matter as they will add the same amount of "points" to your clan's food. Your clan consumes a certain amount of food each out of character week, decay will be taken into account and 15% of the total food will be taken off AFTER the clan has "eaten" and the number the clan needs to thrive is subtracted.

Small Finds yeild 1 Food Points,
Medium Finds yeild 2 Food Points
Large Finds yeild 3 Food Points

When you have completed a hunt and your characters have completed in RPing the "finds" that were rolled, the one who started the topic and made the rolls must post in [url=>>THIS<<]>>THIS<<[/url] thread to report the finds and request for the admins to update the food total for the clan.

How much a clan needs to consume each week is determined by the size of pokemon in the clan, in other words generally how big they are. Every pokemon has a listed pokedex height, and this will be used to determine how many points they need to eat in order to survive.

Small pokemon (Below Two Feet) consume 1 food point
Medium Pokemon (Between Two and Five Feet) consume 2 food points
Large Pokemon (Five to Ten Feet) consume 3 food points
Massive Pokemon (Ten and beyond) consume 6 food points.

If a clan doesn't hunt enough, then their food will grow into the negatives, they'll have to pull themselves out of it while suffering consequences. The food points will cease dropping once the clan has struck -50, and they will have to pull their way out and hunt more. If your clan's food is in the negatives, then the entire clan will have their levels dropped temporarily by 5 until the food is returned to positive numbers and they will be weak to attacks from other clans and rogues!

How Things Work In-Character Empty
PostSubject: Re: How Things Work In-Character   How Things Work In-Character EmptyThu Feb 27, 2014 4:12 pm

Character Creation Information

No Mary Sues/Gary Stus
Every living thing has some sort of weakness, and any character without one will be brutally murdered in the most painful way possible by Beast's BaninBazooka

Character Appearances
Your character's appearance may only be SLIGHTLY modified. You can make slight changes such as light patterns on an Eevee's fur or the star pattern on a Shinx being more diamond shape. No outrageous devil winged, angel halo, horned, snake tailed, and/or size of a great dane eevees or any pokemon like that of the sort! Slight and Naturally Occurring (color, markings, shape of a certain body part, and size), Changes Only.

Mental Illness
If  someone has a character with a mental illness and you find that they  are misinterpreting it, DO NOT demand that they tear down their character and cuss them out like a mad man just because it offends you. Simply inform them that they may be misinterpreting it. If you plan on your character to have a mental  illness, please RESEARCH it before you role-play it to avoid the situation. Or just keep it vague and NOT name the illness at all to avoid having to do this entirely!

Banned Characters
Eventually, there might be too much of a certain species, or too much going into one clan and such. THIS thread gives a complete census of the site's accepted characters and tells you what kind of characters are banned. Some characters might be permanently banned due to problems that are experienced with them, or might be temporarily banned to prevent over population of that species/type/clan. Bans will be released when the other clans/characters/types catch up and they will be available to create a character under once more.

Character Acceptance
Your character must be reviewed by the owner(FOUNDER, not current leader) of the clan you are applying for, they must decide on if your bio is good for approval and matches their clan customs. If a certain clan requires you to do something specific for your character, for example in the Kasai clan you must give reasoning to why your character would be positioned in Knight/Scout/Healer, then add the additional information under the "Other" category in the character bio applications.

You cannot make another character after your first until it has been a week later. Same goes for the characters after that and then after those characters meaning one character per week can be made.
